Marianne Annereau signature freckle finish. The glaze is applied pure white over jet black clay. As the piece heats in the kiln the organic matter in the clay burns away and gasses escape the black clay. As the gasses leave the pot, through the white glaze, they deposit freckles on the surface of the glaze. Naturally the freckles vary in density as the thickness of the glaze differs.
