MDMA Bottle #4
MDMA Bottle #4
In the 1970’s maverick scientist Alexander Shulgin synthesised MDMA and noticed it’s ‘special effect’. Alexander’s wife, Ann Shulgin, worked as a therapist with psychedelic substances, such as MDMA, before they became illegal in the mid 1980’s.
Before the prohibition the Shulgins administered MDMA to patients in conjunction with psychotherapy. The couple introduced MDMA to other psychotherapists.
The drug was used recreationally by party goers in the 70’s and 80’s. The street name for MDMA is ‘ecstasy’ or ‘molly’.
In 2023 the prohibition for MDMA was changed in Australia by the Therapeutic Goods Administration from ‘prohibited’ to ‘controlled’, a world first. Approved Psychiatrists in Australia can prescribe MDMA assisted psychotherapy to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
