Real gold plated Villagers spend a total of 40 hours in the kiln over 3 firings. The gold lustre is painted on before the third firing within a brown oil suspension. The oil burns out to reveal the gold at 900 degrees celcius.

Indigenous Villagers are disadvantaged due to their history with the white Villagers. In recognition of this fact the white Villagers volunteer for the Indigenous population twice a month for a full day. They receive instruction from the Indigenous elders on exactly how to help. (It is not the white Villagers who decide what help is needed). Tasks the white Villagers are given, by the Indigenous elders, include playing cricket with Indigenous youth, learning Indigenous language and helping to restore biodiversity on country that has been damaged throughout history.
